Kelvin Gastelum, a former contender for the UFC middleweight championship, will battle Nassourdine Imavov at UFC 67 in Las Vegas on January 14.

Gastelum will return to the UFC after withdrawing from his UFC 273 bout against Dricus du Plessis. Since undergoing knee surgery, he has been sidelined.

Gastelum has struggled since his UFC 236 defeat to Israel Adesanya for the interim middleweight belt. After back-to-back victories against Jacare Souza and Michael Bisping, he has lost five of his past six bouts.

Kelvin Gastelum Will Confront Nassourdine Imavov Upon Her January Return

After beating Uriah Hall for The Ultimate Fighter 17 championship in 2013, Gastelum earned a chance in the UFC. In his subsequent four Octagon outings, he defeated Jake Ellenberger and Rick Story.

During his UFC career, Gastelum has also earned victories against former UFC title contenders Johny Hendricks and Nate Marquardt.

Gastelum will face a formidable opponent in Imavov, who recently defeated Joaquin Buckley by unanimous decision at UFC Paris. During his three-fight winning run, he’s also stopped Edmen Shahbazyan and Ian Heinisch.

Gastelum vs. Imavov will be the main event of the January 14 card, which will also feature Jeff Molina vs. Jimmy Flick in a flyweight bout. The location and venue of the event have not yet been disclosed.
